After meeting with club representatives Squash Auckland are trialling two changes to the competition. Player satisfaction is at the heart of these changes.
1. Clubs will be split into North/South regions for play.
The large distances between some clubs can sometimes cause excessive travel time for Interclub games. We hope the regional split will encourage players to sign up for interclub who were previously unsure due to the travel. For those that are aware that a regional split has been tried before, please note that we have not used the Harbour Bridge as the sole dividing point between the regions and the relative strengths of clubs have also been taken into consideration. We are hopeful that this subtle change will produce two competitive competitions. However, we do, of course, need YOU to ensure the team numbers are strong in both regions. We'll send another reminder in early Feb. For a list of the clubs in each region please see below.
2. All Women's divisions will play on Monday night.
Wherever possible, women will play Interclub on Monday night and men on Tuesday night. This will assist squash playing parents to alternate their playing nights and baby sitting duties.
